✨ Ingredients:

For Classic Dalbari:

  • 1 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)

  • 1/2 cup moong dal (split yellow gram)

  • 1 green chili (finely chopped)

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida (hing)

  • Salt to taste

  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder

  • A pinch of turmeric powder

  • Fresh coriander leaves (chopped)

  • Oil for frying or air-frying

Optional for Premium Dalbari:

  • A spoon of crushed black pepper

  • Crushed fennel seeds

  • Finely chopped garlic (for extra flavor)

  • A few drops of lemon juice

🍳 Method:

Step 1: Soak & Grind the Dal

  • Wash and soak both dals for 4–6 hours.

  • Drain the water and grind coarsely (not too smooth) without adding much water.

Step 2: Mix the Spices

  • In a mixing bowl, add the ground dal paste.

  • Mix in chopped green chili, ginger, hing, turmeric, salt, chili powder, and coriander.

  • Add your premium ingredients if you’re making Premium Dalbari.

Step 3: Shape the Dalbari

  • Wet your hands and take small portions of the mixture.

  • Shape them into small discs or balls — not too thick, not too thin.

Step 4: Cook It

  • Deep Frying: Heat oil and fry till golden brown and crispy.

  • Air Frying (Healthy Option): Brush with oil and air fry at 180°C for 12–15 minutes.
